Day 64 thru Day 69

Day 64 – 69:  OK, yes I have been negligent in my duties.   The daily runs are getting to be un-eventful and it get’s harder and harder to come-up with an interesting post.   This week started soccer practice, which adds a whole new aspect to the daily regimen.  I am really excited about helping to develop character, strength and skill in these young men on my U12 soccer team.  5 hours a week does not seem like much, but it definately makes finding time to blog more difficult.

Running 5 or more miles in the morning is much more difficult than the old 3’s and 4’s of earlier training.  The runs are not any more difficult thanks to consistant training, but throw in a time change “daylight sleep-loss time” and mornings become a real challenge.  This week culminates in a 10K race (6.2 miles) in Louisville.  This means I am supposed to run a 12 miler mid week.  Didn’t happen.  5 on Tuesday and 5 on Thursday was all I could muster.  I need to sleep faster so I can get myself up and going.

This week my focus was on soccer more than running.  More specifically, I my focus is on my coaching and developing goals for the season.  In the past, I have always tried to teach my teams about persistence and diligence.  This marathon has taught me a lot more about these subject than I had really expected.  More than these, I have learned more about discipline and self-control.  This year along with persistence and diligence, I will focus on self-control and discipline.  Oh, and rest periods might be few and far between.

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (Galations 5)

6God “will give to each person according to what he has done.”  7To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.  (Romans 2)

  1. Let me know when you learn how to sleep faster. That is a skill I have been looking for most of my life.
I am enjoying the blogs. Good luck.
