Day 39

Day 39 – 13.3 miles Team run, 13.3 miles.  We have run a half-marathon.  Quite a ways from the 1/2 mile I could run 3 1/2 months ago.  This was beautiful run from Keenland Race Course, through rolling horse country and back.  Did I mention that it was rolling.  If I didn’t, well let me say, it was rolling. Up and down and up and down. No flat spot on the entire run.  It was an awesome run.  For all the hills, it was really not that bad.  I would have run most of this alone had it not been for a sick team member who is have some movement issues that are causing him to cramp up.  So he got to bring up the rear with me.  We ran dead on my expected marathon pace so I felt pretty good about it (10:16/mile).  If only someone could be sick or injured every week, I would always have a running partner, wouldn’t that be great!  Who volunteers to breakdown for next week?  Anyway, I hope everything comes out alright, buddy.

This is a pretty big milestone.  It seems like to me that we are on the downward slope of this training.  Oh, wait a minute, I think I mentioned today that the downhills actually hurt more than the up-hills.  At least on a downhill, if you fall, you can just roll to the bottom.  So let’s roll!

“…let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. ”  Hebrews 12:1
